FLEX Testing for the 2021-22 Program Year is Moving Online!
Due to safety concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic, the FLEX Program will be conducting testing for the 2021-22 program year ONLINE in the fall of 2020.
Applicants can participate in the recruitment process from any location that has Internet access, using either a mobile device or a computer. FLEX recruitment will still include three rigorous rounds of testing even though participants will not take part in in-person testing.
Round 1: Open to eligible applicants from September 1 - October 15, 2020. This round includes a preliminary online application and 3 essay questions which must be submitted within 10 days of starting the application.
Round 2: Students will be invited to take part in an online English test.
Round 3: This semi-finalist round will begin in November and include an interview, 3 more essay questions, the full application, and a comprehensive English test. Students who pass to this stage will be invited to participate by the American Councils office in their country. FLEX is a program of the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. government.
The FLEX competition is open to all students who meet the basic eligibility requirements established for their home countries.

Program Requirements for 2021-22
The competition for the FLEX scholarship is merit-based and open at no cost to applicants who meet the following requirements:
Citizenship
Have Kyrgyz Republic citizenship.
Age requirements
Be born between 1 January 2004 and 15 July 2006 (For students with disabilities: 15 February 2003 – 15 July 2006).
School requirements
Be enrolled in 9th or 10th grade, or the 1st course of college (after 9th grade).
Be enrolled in and attending a secondary school or college in the Kyrgyz Republic.
English proficiency
Have a basic knowledge of the English language.
Academic standing
Have an academic standing of good or better.
Visa requirements
Meet U.S. J-1 visa eligibility requirements.
